Norway Abandons Free Speech & Libya Crimes?? Feb 23/12

Norway - has free speech become too expensive?

http://alexandramorton.typepad.com /

Tomorrow, a judge in a BC court will be asked to make an instantaneous decision on day 20 of a 20-day trial whether to grant an injunction against Don Staniford speaking about the fish farm industry.

Standing in a hurricane we cannot see the pattern - that the storm tearing up the world is circular, that it reaches into the global stratosphere.

Similarly, the proceedings in courtroom #52, Vancouver Law Courts would have little significance if you could not see the roles of Norway, China, Premier Christy Clark and shareholders.  The defamation hearing Staniford vs. Mainstream is a test – can the corporate world tolerate democracy.

Big tobacco and Norwegian salmon feedlots hired the same strategist - Hill and Knowlton.  The Tobacco Industry knew their product was suspect in killing people, and so it took skilled professionals to get people to keep buying cigarettes.  Hill and Knowlton are top-flight, known for managing public relations for the Gulf War, the Exxon oil spill in Alaska, the Three Mile Island nuclear disaster and the massacre at Tiananmen Square.  The salmon farmers have spent millions advertising just in the last two years.

But truth is more powerful.

Staniford used cigarette pack imagery (http://salmonfarmingkills.com) to make the point that farm salmon contain cancer-causing chemicals, that they are spreading like a cancer, choking off wild salmon migration routes and otherwise harming oceans worldwide.  Staniford never named Mainstream in these graphics, but BC salmon farming is 92% Norwegian owned and Norway is the biggest shareholder in Mainstream’s parent company, Cermaq. So through Mainstream, Norway is attempting to protect its industry, calling for an immediate gag order on Staniford and $1 million in damages.

Why such a big response to a guy with big mouth and no money?

Under the watchful eye of Justice Adair, we saw evidence that the salmon farming industry knew cancer-causing chemicals are in their product, even as they targeted pregnant women to eat more farm salmon:

In 2011, a multi-million dollar ad campaign put fish farm propaganda in our mailboxes saying;
Farmed salmon is natural, nutritious and free of contaminants

They know there are contaminants in farm salmon, but they paid huge bucks to tell British Columbians there are none.

While the salmon farming industry has the resources to hire Hill and Knowlton, Staniford’s tools are biting satire, superheroes, three websites, a Captain Condom suit and edgy, British humor.  He knows people won’t read dry exposés on the industry.  So he pushed the limits and Norway is pushing back hard.  Mr. Wotherspoon, commercial litigation lawyer for Fasken Martineau, with 9 offices around the world, is asking Justice Adair for an immediate gag order on Mr. Staniford to shut him up for the few remaining weeks he is in British Columbia, before he is deported.

Norwegians should be concerned about this.  In 2010, the Norwegian Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Chinese free speech dissident, Lui Xiaobo.  When Norwegian actress Liv Ullmann accepted the award on Xiaobo’s behalf she said;

To strangle freedom of speech is to trample on human rights, stifle humanity, and suppress truth.”

China took offence and imposed new rules concerning import of Norwegian farm salmon causing a 68% decline in shipments of Norwegian farm salmon to China.  Massive stores of farm salmon rotted in warehouses.

While they are vulnerable to the trade winds they create, society’s rapacious corporate giants can save themselves from the spin of the vortex merely by leaning on another leg in another country.  What Norway’s salmon feedlot operators lost in Norway, they gained in BC.  BC farm salmon export to China skyrocketed from $249,000 in 2010 to more than $3.8 million in 2011 (Vancouver Sun, Feb 2012).

Now, however, free speech is threatening the profitable BC / China farm salmon connection.  Staniford keeps saying salmon farming spreads disease. Indeed the ISA virus, the most lethal virus known to salmon and a form of influenza spread from Norway to Chile in 2007 causing 2 $billion dollars of damage.  When my colleagues and I reported European strain ISA virus positive tests here in BC, what did the provincial Minister of Agriculture, Don McRae do?  He made a statement that Premier Christy Clark would personally tell China we do not have ISA virus in BC.  The Canadian Food Inspection Agency testified at the Cohen Inquiry in December that if ISA virus is in BC, trade in farm salmon could cease.

Recent industry trade paper headlines make it clear the farm salmon market is collapsing, because there is too much uneaten farm salmon on the market driving prices down below cost.  Two weeks ago the US lifted a 20-year 24% duty on Norwegian farm salmon.  This will allow Norwegian companies to sell more farm salmon to the U.S. and might save the motherships, but it puts their BC companies at greater risk.  Farm salmon companies in BC report firing people and downsizing, they cannot survive without the Chinese market.

And so gale force winds spawned on the other side of the planet, when Norway having awarded one man for free speech,  have slammed into a small courtroom in Vancouver where Norway seeks to take free speech away from another man. The structure of the courts and democracy are creaking, rivets popping, paint peeling.

Norway, I want to say to you - ISA virus is in BC,   cancer-causing chemicals are in your fish,   you do use BC as a dump as your companies never shovel their manure and wild fish are being killed in your pens.
You can silence Staniford, but at what cost?  You won’t hide these truths, because they are lying around in evidence everywhere.
Corporations are like addicts, they can’t stop themselves.  They are blind to everything, but the next quarter.  What does it mean when you hand out the Nobel Peace prize in one part of the world and then work to erode democracy where it has become inconvenient to business?

We all have to ask ourselves - what kind of world we want to exist in?

UN Report On Libya & War Crimes  Feb 23/11

UN Report Offers Smoking Gun Proof of NATO and US Lies about Libya

Posted on November 1, 2011 by nsnbc

Here is a type of “smoking gun” proof that NATO and the U.S. has been operating through a smokescreen of lies, as well as intimidation.  Please read the following January 4, 2011 report of the 16th Session of the United Nations General Assembly Human Rights Council, Universal Periodic Review:

Report of the Working Group on the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya [Document A/HRC/WG.6/9/L.13]

Before NATO and the U.S. started bombing Libya, the United Nations was preparing to bestow an award on Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, and the Libyan Jamahiriya, for its achievements in the area of human rights. That’s right–the same man, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, that NATO and the United States have been telling us for months is a “brutal dictator,” was set to be given an award for his human rights record in Libya.  How strange it is that the United Nations was set to bestow a human rights award on a “brutal dictator,” at the end of March.

So, I ask a question. Who is this “brutal dictator” that the United Nations General Assembly Human Rights Council was preparing to bestow an award to, for human rights, sometime at the end of March?  So, they would have us believe that they knew that he was a “brutal dictator,” yet decided to give him an award for human rights?!  Astounding!  Astounding the lies that we’re being told by the media, NATO and the U.S. government.  Absolutely astounding!  Not surprising, but astounding!  But more astounding still, is the fact that, time after time after time, much of the American public – without questioning – believes every single word that comes from the “news” media.

It is noteworthy to read the following couple of sentences from the General Assembly’s report:

“Several delegations also noted with appreciation the country’s commitment to upholding human rights on the ground.  Additional statements, which could not be delivered during the interactive dialogue, owing to time constraints, will be posted on the extranet of the universal periodic review when available.”

In a footnote of that report, there is a list of countries that praised Colonel Gaddafi and the Libyan Jamahiriya (state of the masses), in support of the General Assembly Human Rights Council’s decision to bestow this award upon Colonel Gaddafi. I simply present the list.  The reader can look at the list and make his or her own judgment regarding the credibility level, or perceived credibility level, of any of the particular countries listed:

Denmark, China, Italy, The Netherlands, Mauritania, Slovenia, Nicaragua, The Russian Federation, Spain, Indonesia, Sweden, Norway, Ecuador, Hungary, South Africa, The Phillippines, Maldives, Chile, Singapore, Germany, Australia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Angola, Nigeria, Congo, Burundi, Zambia, Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Zimbabwe.

If you have been paying any attention to the news, you will note that a few of the above-listed countries suddenly made an about-face, and decided to start supporting NATO and the U.S. in their war of aggression.  Why?  Why else!?  Money.  That’s always the bottom line, and there’s no doubt that it will all be exposed, at some time in the future, just as was exposed the lies that the U.S. government told its citizens, and the world, about “weapons of mass destruction” in Iraq.  And those same countries were just about to bestow an award on Colonel Gaddafi, for human rights, after having carefully studied Libyan society. So, what’s this about the “brutal dictator?” It’s what my big brother would call it: CHEWED UP GRASS [Bullshit!!  For the delicate amongst you, pardon my colorful language].

THE BRUTAL MURDER OF GADDAFI AND THE IMPLICATIONS

Saturday, 22 October 2011 13:44

FOR ALL WHO STAND IN THE WAY OF THE WAR CRIMINALS

Toe the line or be the next victim of the colonial plunder and rape!

By Matthias Chang

22nd October 2011, Future Fastforward

Gaddafi died a martyr, murdered by the war criminals of US, France, Britain and NATO lead by President Obama, President Sarkozy and Prime Minister Cameron.  Although NATO spearheaded the military campaign against Libya, the strategic planning was prepared by US Africa Command (AFRICOM).

AFRICOM was set up to further the US interest in Africa, more precisely the Global Military-Industrial-Financial Complex’s interests in securing and plundering the resources of Africa.  Behind AFRICOM’s curtain are the hidden hands of Zionist Israel.

The first victim of this agenda is Libya

When the UN Security Council sanctioned the attack on Libya under the guise of imposing a No-Fly zone to protect the alleged killing of civilians by Gaddafi who was fighting an armed rebellion supported and financed by the above-mentioned war criminals, Russia and China could have vetoed the resolution and thwart the destruction and plunder of Libya.

But these two permanent members of the Security Council caved in and abstained.  China has a major presence in Libya and her intelligence services would have known whether Gaddafi enjoyed wide popular support from his people.  The Libyan government was stable and successful in implementing development projects for the benefit of the people.  It was the most developed country in the entire African continent and Gaddafi’s efforts were duly recognised by the UN weeks before the barbaric aerial bombardment of Libya.

China invested US$ billions in Libya.

Yet, without a whimper of resistance at the highest diplomatic level, she evacuated 30,000 Chinese workers from Libya and left in a hurry.  China and Russia knew in advance that there would be an undeclared war against Libya.

Everything was up for grabs!

Even after the full invasion and wanton destruction of Libya, China and Russia made perfunctory and lame criticisms of NATO’s criminal actions.

Surely, it cannot be said that Russia and China were misled by the war criminals that they had no intentions to destroy Libya and oust Gaddafi and to seize the oil resources.  They must have known that war preparations were in place long before the matter came before the UN Security Council.  That was their excuse in not vetoing the UN Security Council resolution authorising NATO’s military action.  A load of rubbish.

So why did China and Russia cave in?  This is the US$ trillion question.  It reminds me of the story of a man who owed a debt of gratitude to two rival gangs.  The man was asked by the more notorious gang to assassinate the leader of the other gang but the attempt failed.  When confronted by the victim as to the reasons to be the hired killer, the man replied that he owed a greater debt of gratitude to the other gang leader.  Libya under Gaddafi welcomed China with open arms, but China turned a blind eye to the destruction of Libya because she owed a greater debt of gratitude to Zionist Israel and the global financial elites for past favours, as well as narrow self-interests.  China had too much toilet paper money (US Federal Reserve notes) and the sale of Libyan oil in the intended gold dinar by Gaddafi would literally destroy the US dollar.  This cannot be allowed!  Period!

The same can be said of Sarkozy and Tony Blair and his copycat Cameron.  They all turned their backs on Gaddafi for the same reasons.

It must be said that the leading members of the African Union were courageous enough to make a stand against the invasion and wanton destruction and did not extend “recognition” to NATO’s quisling regime until forced by circumstances to do so.  Members of the Arab League and the OIC were cowards and opportunists and they pride themselves as righteous Muslims.  But Qatar must be singled out for special condemnation.  Can anyone still believe that Al-Jazeera is the voice of the Arab / Muslim communities?  Until exposed as the barking dog of NATO, Al- Jazeera was the major “Arab” propaganda tool to demonise Gaddafi and to misrepresent the actual situation in Libya – an armed rebellion financed by war criminals.  Al-Qaeda played a leading role in the armed rebellion.

Iran, Syria and Lebanon should learn from this experience and the mistakes of Gaddafi.  They are the next targets of the Zionists / Neo-Conservatives global agenda.  If they entertain any thoughts of making compromises with these war criminals, by abandoning their right of self-defence and to be armed with every conceivable weapon, including nuclear weapons, they will end up like Saddam Hussein and Gaddafi.  In defending their country, all options should be on the table in like manner as the war criminals have declared in their war agenda against them.  They will collapse one by one like dominoes if they strategise otherwise!

To the leaders of countries under immediate threat as well as those on the fringes, your previous strategy of inviting China and Russia to invest on preferential basis and to purchase massive amount of arms to counter-balance the threat of the Zionist Anglo-American Axis will no longer be effective because US$ billions worth of investments and military purchase count for nothing when US$ trillions worth of foreign reserves are at stake.  The investing countries will run for cover for short-term preservation and will not be willing to commit their resources for a military conflict unless and until they themselves are under a direct threat.  This is a given.

To the leaders of China and Russia – this is your wake up call.  Stop strutting like a peacock just because you have abundant dollar reserves.  The Federal Reserve Notes are all toilet papers and will not be bargaining chips when the deal placed on the table is - surrender or war.

There is still time yet to mount a Global Counter-Alliance against this fascist triad of Israel / US / UK war criminals.

As for Iran and Turkey, stop aspiring to be regional powers, as you cannot hope to achieve this grand vision so long as Zionist Israel continues to wag the US dog.  Be realistic.  Without nuclear weapons as a deterrent, and revolutionary social forces on your side, global public opinion cannot be mobilised to first isolate and then annihilate your enemies.  Turkey cannot take comfort that as a member of NATO it will be immune to the machinations of the war criminals.

The countdown has started

The new normal and preferred mode of regime change is to use the pretext of Humanitarian Intervention as a cover for outright military intervention.

In the African continent, it will be U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) as the Planner and NATO as the military Bully.

In the next escalation in the Middle East and South Asia wars (i.e. the overspill from Afghanistan to Pakistan), U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) will be the Planner and the combined might of NATO, Israel and Arab Lackeys will provide the military manpower.

In South-East Asia and the Pacific, U.S Pacific Command (USPACOM) will lead and coordinate all military campaigns.

In South America, the U.S. Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) will plan and lead, with narco states providing the ground troops.

In all of the above war scenarios, mercenaries and special forces will be in the forefront in fomenting sectarian wars and religious armed conflicts.

2012 will usher in The World War of the 21st Century – the perverse solution of the war criminals in their futile attempt to overcome the final phase of the Global Financial Tsunami!
